The NSW Psychiatry Network Oversight Committee has supervision of the networked training program in NSW.  The Psychiatry Program is coordinated and delivered through a partnership between NSW IMET, the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP), the NSW Institute of Psychiatry and the five training networks.

Psychotherapy Saturday Workshop Series
Announcing the Psychotherapy Educators Group iniative of a free Saturday workshop series.  Second workshop "The therapist as a person" will be held on 21 November at the Liverpool Hospital.  For more information and to confirm attendance contact Neharika Ralhan by email nralhan@imet.health.nsw.gov.au

Second DBT Training Workshops
For those trainees and supervisors who attended the first workshop earlier this year the follow-on DBT workshops are being held in November and December.  Contact Neharika Ralhan for details.

"An Overview of Psychiatric Ethics"
Dr Michael Robertson has written another great resource for supervisors and trainees.  This text focusses on the difficult area of medical ethics in Psychiatry.  A must for any trainee preparing for not only their exams but for future professional practice.  The text is freely available to all junior doctors via this website.  Print copies have been distributed to each Psychaitry training location via the networks.

IMET External Review into Psychiatry Training Report
IMET has received the report from the External Review Panel and presented this to the Department of Health.  Our NOC has been tasked with responding to the report and consideration of the 60 recommendations aimed at improving training.

 "Acute Psychiatric Management" Resource
This teaching and learning resource was developed by Dr Michael Robertson and his team using a grant from the IMET Psychiatry Education Support Fund.  The text is freely available to all junior doctors via this website.  Print copies have been supplied to each teaching site and to new trainees.

Psychiatry Trainee Sub-Committee is reforming
Are you interested in having a say in how the Psychiatry Training Program functions?  You could become a member of the IMET Psychiatry Trainee Sub-Committee.  We are seeking representatives from each training network.  If you are interested please contact your local Psychiatry Education Support Officer or the IMET Psychiatry Program team.

IMET Rural Scholarship Program
There is a new policy relating to the IMET Rural Scholarship Program with the Department of Health.  Whilst we await the decision on this policy trainees who are on rural rotation or based at a rural site, as defined by our 2008 policy, should apply using the 2008 form and process.  Contact your local ESO.  We will inform you when any change occurs.
