What is Basic Physician Training?
Basic physician training or BPT is a period of clinical training for internal medicine. You can become a BPT after completing the first two prevocational years of training.
To complete basic physician training you must:
- Register with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP).
- Complete training at RACP accredited training sites.
Upon completion, you may apply to an internal medicine discipline for further specialty training.
How is the basic physician networked training program delivered in NSW?
The NSW Physician Training Council has oversight of the networked training program in NSW. The BPT Program is coordinated and delivered in partnership with IMET, the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) and the nine training networks.
