The Advanced Cardiology Training Networks
There are six advanced cardiology training networks in NSW. A 0.4 FTE Education Support Officer (ESO) assists the State Director of Cardiology and the Training Networks to deliver their training program.
One of the recommendations of the review was for the establishment of rural training positions. The first position was established in 2007, with an additional three positions commencing at rural sites for the 2008 clinical year.

Rural Scholarship Fund
The purpose of the Rural Scholarship Fund is to:
- provide incentive to trainees who exceed the minimum College requirements for the exposure to rural clinical practice
- reduce the financial burden experienced by doctors undertaking rural rotations
- support access to education and training during rural rotations
