NSW Prevocational Training Networks

Prevocational training takes place in 56 training facilities which are grouped together into 15 prevocational training networks. NSW IMET allocates eligible graduates to 14 of these networks (the network based in the ACT runs a separate allocation system).

Once allocated, you negotiate with the network for the ‘home hospital’ of your choice. The ‘home hospital’ is the hospital where you will undertake most of your training.

On accepting a prevocational training position, whether you are a PGY1 or AMC graduate, you will be offered a two year training appointment by the employing hospital network.

Each network has a Network Committee for Prevocational Training (NCPT) which is responsible for coordinating education and training across the facilities within the network.
