How do I become a surveyor?
By becoming a surveyor, you will be making a valuable contribution to ensuring prevocational training in NSW/ACT is of a high standard.
The following steps will guide you through the surveyor recruitment process.
Steps to Become a Surveyor
- Read "The Accreditation Survey - a Guide for Surveyors". click here
- Complete the "Self Assessment" sheets as you go. They have been designed to assist you in your learning. click here
- Once you have read "The Accreditation Survey - a Guide for Surveyors", complete the "New Surveyor Exercises". click here
- If you are not sure about the answer to any of the exercises then please complete it as far as you can and add a comment indicating that you would like further clarification. You can also ring IMET at any point for further clarification.
- Submit your completed exercises electronically to IMET prevochotline@imet.health.nsw.gov.au
- The Chair of the Prevocational Accreditation Committee will then assess your answers.
- A staff member from the System Support and Operations Division will then contact you to discuss the training materials and exercises.
- To complete the training phase, you will participate in a survey as a trainee surveyor.
After Surveyor Training
Following successful completion of the training, you will be certified and will participate in surveys as a full team member.
You will participate in at lease one more survey as a full team member within the first 12 months of being accredited. After that, you will usually do a minimum of two surveys a year.
To remain certified you should expect to participate in at least two surveys per year.
