Who is an IMET surveyor?
The IMET surveyor pool consists of a variety of health professionals who have an interest in prevocational education and training. Amongst others, they may be prevocational trainees, Clinicians, Directors of Medical Services, Directors of Prevocational Education and Training and GPs.
Through their surveyor training and survey experience IMET surveyors are able to gather the relevant information to verify a facility’s achievement towards meeting the standards for prevocational education and training.
Not only do surveyors assess performance they have a consultative role by providing support, education and advice on how to improve prevocational education and training within a facility.
Surveying provides an opportunity for surveyors to:
· learn about other facilities innovative ideas and improvements
· reflect on the training in their own facilities
· network with other surveyors who have a passion for prevocational education and training
Surveyors provide their services on a voluntary basis and contribute between two and four days a year. Travel, accommodation and survey related expenses are met by IMET. Honorariums are also available to some surveyors.
